How to cancel Blink membership for your gym or smart home security

Learn how to cancel blink membership whether you have a Blink Fitness gym subscription or an Amazon Blink smart home security plan. This guide covers how to submit your request online, by mail, or through your app store, along with information on notice periods, refunds, and potential buyout fees.

The name Blink refers to two completely separate services. To find the exact instructions you need, choose your membership type below:

Blink Fitness has rebranded to PureGym US following its acquisition. Despite the name change, specific membership agreement policies remain active. Before you cancel, keep these financial and contract rules in mind:

  • The notice policy: Your billing does not stop instantly. Depending on your state, you must provide a 30-day or 45-day notice period. For example, California, Illinois, and Virginia locations require 30 days of notice, while New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania require 45 days. You will be charged for any billing cycles that fall within this notice window, and you retain gym access during this time.
  • Early buyout fees: No-commitment plans (historically the Gray tier) do not carry a cancellation penalty. If you are locked into a 12-month contract (such as the Green or Blue tier) and cancel before the first year ends, you must pay an early buyout fee: $50 in California and Pennsylvania, or $60 in other states like New York and New Jersey.
  • Annual maintenance fee: The recurring yearly maintenance fee (typically $59.99) is non-refundable.

Option 1: Cancel Online or in the App

Log in to your member portal

Go to the PureGym US website or open the PureGym US mobile app (which has replaced the older Blink Fitness app), then log in with your credentials.

Go to gym pass management

Locate the "Your Gym Pass" tile on your dashboard and select "Manage."

Select freeze or cancel

Choose the option labeled "Freeze or cancel your membership" from the menu.

Cancel your membership

Select "Cancel my membership" and follow the prompts to complete the process.

Verify your confirmation email

Check your inbox for a cancellation confirmation email. Keep this receipt as proof that your request was submitted.

Option 2: Cancel In Person at Your Home Gym

You can cancel your membership directly by visiting your home gym location. Use the self-service kiosk near the front desk, or request assistance from a club manager. When canceling in person, always ask for a printed or emailed receipt of your cancellation request before leaving.

Option 3: Cancel via Certified Mail

If you no longer live near your home club, you can cancel by mail. Write a letter that includes your full name, gym membership ID number, home address, and a clear statement asking to cancel your membership.

Send this package via Certified Mail with a return receipt requested. This provides physical proof of delivery. Follow up by phone a week later to confirm that the service team processed your request.

Blink is an Amazon-owned company, which means subscription billing is directly tied to your Amazon account.

Option 1: Cancel Through Amazon

Sign in to Amazon

Open your web browser, navigate to Amazon, and log in to the account linked to your Blink cameras.

Open your subscriptions page

Go to "Account and Lists" near the top right of the page and select "Memberships and Subscriptions".

Locate your Blink Subscription Plan within the list of active services.

Cancel the subscription

Select "Cancel Subscription" and choose to end the plan on your next billing date or cancel it immediately. Canceling immediately may trigger a prorated refund for unused days.

Option 2: Cancel via Apple App Store (iOS)

If you purchased your plan directly on an iPhone or iPad, your billing is handled by Apple. You must cancel through your iOS device settings:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your name at the top of the settings page.
  3. Select Subscriptions.
  4. Tap your Blink subscription, then select Cancel Subscription.

To end an active trial plan before paid billing begins, you can cancel directly inside the mobile app:

  1. Open the Blink app on your phone.
  2. Tap Settings and select Blink Subscription Plans.
  3. Select Cancel Trial at the bottom of the screen and confirm the action.

After canceling your subscription, your Blink cameras still support real-time live view and basic motion alerts. However, you will lose cloud video storage, automated recordings, and premium features unless you save videos locally with a Sync Module 2 and a compatible USB flash drive.
