Ending Your Whoop Membership
How you end your Whoop membership depends on your current billing status:
- Free Trial: You must cancel and return the hardware within your 30-day trial to avoid a restocking fee.
- Under Commitment (12 or 24 Months): You must either pay a commitment buyout fee to cancel immediately, or turn off auto-renewal to stop payments at the end of your term.
- Post-Commitment: You can cancel at any time to prevent your plan from renewing.
How to Cancel Your Whoop Membership
You can cancel your Whoop membership through either the web portal or the mobile app.
Follow these steps to cancel your membership using a computer or mobile web browser.
Log in to the web portal
Go to app.whoop.com and enter your credentials to access your account dashboard.
Navigate to membership settings
Click on your profile icon or go directly to the Membership section of your account page.
Initiate cancellation
Scroll to the bottom of the Membership page and select the option to Cancel Your Membership.
Confirm the cancellation
Follow the on-screen prompts, select a reason for leaving, and complete the confirmation steps to finalize your request.
If you do not see a cancellation button in your account dashboard, you must email [email protected] directly to request cancellation and prevent automatic renewal of your contract.
Canceling During the 30-Day Free Trial
If you are on a 30-day free trial, you must return your hardware within a strict timeframe to avoid unexpected fees. Canceling your membership ends your app access immediately.
Once you submit your cancellation, you must return the sensor, band, and battery pack or charger. You must mail these items within 7 days of receiving your prepaid shipping label.
If you do not return all hardware components on time, Whoop charges a $110 restocking fee. If you fail to cancel your trial or return the device within the 30-day window, you will be automatically enrolled in a 12-month Peak membership at $239.
If you purchased a new paid membership, you can return your device within 30 days of receipt for a full refund (minus shipping costs).
Handling Commitment Terms and Buyout Fees
When you sign up for a 12-month or 24-month membership, you commit to paying for the entire term. If you are still in this commitment period, you cannot cancel immediately without settling the balance.
You have two options to manage your commitment:
- Pay a buyout fee: Pay off the remaining balance of your contract to cancel immediately.
- Turn off auto-renewal: Keep using the device until your contract runs out. The membership will stop automatically at the end of your term, and you will not be billed again.
Once you complete and pay off your commitment, the hardware is yours to keep. You do not need to return the device, but it will stop recording or uploading your physical data without an active membership.
Pausing Your Whoop Membership Instead
If you are injured, traveling, or taking a break, you can pause your membership instead of canceling it to keep your historical health data intact.
To pause your account, you must meet these criteria:
- You cannot be in an active commitment period.
- You can only pause once every 12 months.
- You can freeze your membership for up to 3 consecutive months.
While your account is paused, Whoop stops billing you, and your device stops collecting data. If you are on a contract, your end date will shift forward by the number of days you paused.
FAQ
Can I get a refund if I cancel after the first 30 days?
No. Refunds are only available within your first 30 days. If you cancel after this window, you will not receive a refund or credit for any prepaid time left on your subscription.
What happens to my historical health data after I cancel?
You lose access to your biometric history in the app immediately after canceling. Export your health and recovery data from the web portal's personal settings before you finalize your cancellation.
What if my device was purchased through an authorized reseller like Amazon?
If you bought your device from Amazon or another authorized reseller, you must handle your return and cancellation through that retailer. Whoop cannot refund third-party purchases or process returns for them.
